Ive just started AOE and played for maybe 10-15 hours total, with some prior 4X experience. I wanted to play skirmish because I find the campaigns a bit boring when they constantly tell me what to do next. But the skirmish is the other way around, nothing I do seems to be effective and I seem to eventually lose to the easy AI as well. Hard- This can turn into a headache very quickly in a Skirmish and especially in a Campaign. Hardest - My favored difficulty when it comes to Skirmishes.
